Blago and Barry: Sikhing Senate Seat

Special thanks to the amazing Shuggie Otis

“Human beings are not commodities. They are not goods. They grieve, and suffer and feel despair. They raise children and struggle to maintain communities. The growing class divide is not understood, despite the glibness of many in the media, by complicated sets of statistics or the absurd, utopian faith in unregulated globalization and complicated trade deals.”

How Our Politicians Buy Foreign “Friends” to Sack American Workers

Chicago politics might best be described as Tammany Hall meets Little Italy. Fierce loyalties, promises and payola literally know no bounds as the Windy City’s latest Blago scandal reveals.

Apparently, Blagojevich is D-Punjab! Who knew? Prior to Blago holding the esteemed title of D-Punjab was the other Chicagoan, Hillary. Could Barry be next?

What could the Blago scandal to auction off a senate seat possibly reveal about millions of disappearing white collar jobs for not only the citizens of Chicago and Illinois but all American citizens? Not to worry. Our corporate “thought leaders” are counting on that Wall Street bailout money to trickle up as today’s San Jose Mercury News provides unending pages of companies who are shedding jobs for Californians in unprecedented numbers never seen since the Great Depression. Why would a president want to import foreign workers here when companies are laying off citizens?

Take the test: What is America’s leading export? White collar jobs. What is America’s leading import? Third world citizens to take them. How could politicians and corporate welfare queens giving America’s jobs away to the third world possibly reveal ties to Blago and Obie? Today’s Chicago Tribune story connects the dots.

Blago aide Rajinder Bedi, is the managing director for the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity's Office of Trade and Investment, overseeing nine foreign trade offices around the world from China to Israel, including the recent opening in 2007 of the New Delhi office (not counted on the website’s map.) He has also been a key fundraiser for Blagojevich, and is noted for his service in “assisting” Illinois in selling services, i.e., white collar jobs:

"The international efforts of Illinois through the OTI under Governor Blagojevich have not gone unnoticed. Under Mr. Bedi's leadership, the OTI has established its newest trade office in India (Deli - est. 2007) to assist Illinois firms in one of the world's most promising and expanding markets for Illinois goods and services.”

One wouldn’t suppose that trafficking in cheap labor would factor into the DoC & EOOTI, either? Everyone is wondering why and how our government -- including president-elect Obama --- could possibly promise to export our disappearing white collar jobs consisting of professions from engineering to journalism during an economic depression. Well, take a closer look at the Blago scandal and the cast of characters including the man of the hour himself, Jesse Jackson Jr., Rahm Emanuel and Patrick Fitzgerald for a good look at what our ever expanding big government of bipartisan, One Party of Big Money gluttons can do to sell out this nation to the third world.

Again: What is this nation's last greatest, most PROFITABLE and lucrative export? White collar jobs. Guess which country’s citizens are imported to take them? INDIA. Guess which president-elect has promised to lift the H-1b visa cap during a DEPRESSION? Obama.

Although the topic of of visas was not mentioned, today's Chicago Tribune story entitled "Raghuveer Nayak" probes the relationship between JJJr, Rahm Emmanuel, leaving readers to question the motivations behind Obama’s "promise to the tech lobby to raise H-1b visa cap" here:

"Bedi is the managing director for the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity's Office of Trade and Investment, overseeing nine foreign trade offices around the world from China to Israel. He has also been a key fundraiser for Blagojevich. Blagojevich has referred to Bedi, who wears a turban, as "My Sikh warrior."

The Tribune story begins:

“As Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to pick Illinois' next U.S. senator, businessmen, including Raghuveer Nayak, with ties to both the governor and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. discussed raising at least $1 million for Blagojevich's campaign as a way to encourage him to pick Jackson for the job, the Tribune has learned.Blagojevich made an appearance at an Oct. 31 luncheon meeting at the India House restaurant in Schaumburg sponsored by Oak Brook businessman Nayak, a major Blagojevich supporter who also has fundraising and business ties to the Jackson family, according to several attendees and public records. Two businessmen who attended the meeting and spoke to the Tribune on the condition of anonymity said that Nayak and Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi privately told many of the more than two dozen attendees the fundraising effort was aimed at supporting Jackson's bid for the Senate.”

The only thing worse than auctioning off a president-elect’s former senate seat is that it is, so far, completely legal for our elected officials and corporate welfare queens to auction off our disappearing white collar jobs to the highest bidder. Why is that? Why should Blago go down but Hillary, Obama, Bush and the corporate world of weasels continue to non-stop kick millions of Americans to the curb?

Now that the country is in a Depression and the U.S. has nothing left to export but its white collar jobs, maybe Americans need to finally get their priorities straight, as Rob Sanchez explains below:

“The triumvirate of the India Caucus in the House of Representatives, Friends of India in the Senate, and the Indian political action committee (USINPAC) conspired to open our borders to India's growing population of educated workers and to liberalize free-trade agreements that benefit the economy of India at the expense of the citizens of the United States.”

The great lie about a “labor shortage” of workers in this country has made a lot of politicians and corporate “leaders” very wealthy people, furthering the class divide in this country and turning it into a caste system led by this neo-fascist regime elected to office.

Who is Obama distancing himself from in the Blago scandal? The answer is “US”.

Outstanding post, 2Truthy! I hate how our politicians and Indian business leaders throw around words like "trade" and "commerce" to make it sound like the U.S. and India are selling little manufactured trinkets to each other. The real "trade" is the U.S. will trade jobs to India in exchange for people.

CC, Complicit plebes aside, what would Congress ever do if the Sacred Cow of the great American white collar job hotsale were exposed at say, the same level of shoes thrown at our outgoing president? Or of Blago trying to auction a senate seat?

Not to worry. As those deplorable and ghastly American MSM journos are handed their asses, too, the country has a few "New Media" sycophants to imitate the departing frat-boy gatekeepers who bankroll the U.S. Senate.

Joy to the World!

jane,
Yep. It is ironic that the job of this dying art form, investigative journalism, has been bequeathed to non-journalists who are card carrying tools of hubris drenched, corporate welfare branders of One Big,Fat Money Party.

Outstanding blog.

What good is having a department of trade if the "items" trade are human beings used to drive down wages for oler (and younger) experienced, professional US citizens and quite literally replace them with slave labor?Surely such state "trade" and commerce departments must halt this destructive and amoral practice.
